Micromax-backed YU Televentures recently launched its second smartphone called the Yuphoria. The phone goes against the likes of the highly affordable 4G LTE-enabled Android smartphones in the country. In addition to the support for the Indian 4G LTE networks, the YU Yuphoria offers great features for its price range. The Lava Iris X9 is one of the closest competitors to the Yuphoria, though it doesn’t offer 4G connectivity, but it has everything you can expect from a device in this range.

Lava Iris X9 vs YU Yuphoria: battle of the budget Android smartphones
The Lava Iris X9 offers a premium body featuring a metallic rim around the sides, which increases durability of the smartphone. However, there’s no word on the Iris X9’s waistline and weight at the moment. The YU Yuphoria on the other hand also sports a metallic frame, but its rear is made of thin plastic. The device measures pretty sleek 8.2mm around the waist and weighs 143 grams. Overall, the Yuphoria looks much better than the Iris X9.
Display and OS
The YU Yuphoria suits best for those having small hands as it offers a 5-inch HD display bearing a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. The Lava Iris X9 sports a larger 5.5-inch HD display with a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. So both the smartphones cater specific users. The Iris X9 and Yuphoria, both the devices run Android Lollipop out of the box, though the Yuphoria has extra software tweaks as it has CyanogenMod custom UI on top of Android.
The Lava Iris X9 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is further supported by a Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The YU Yuphoria is backed by a better 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, aided by an Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Both the smartphones offer 16GB of expandable memory.
For imaging, the Lava Iris X9 offers better specifications than the Yuphoria. The phone has a 13MP autofocus primary shooter with an LED flash and a BSI sensor, and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. The Yuphoria on the other hand is loaded with an 8MP autofocus rear snapper with an LED flash, and a 5MP front shooter.
Connectivity and Battery
In terms of connectivity, the YU Yuphoria has the upper hand as it offers support for 4G LTE bands in India. Both the Iris X9 and Yuphoria, both the devices offers dual-SIM slots, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, and A-GPS. The Iris X9 is fueled by a beefy 2,650mAh battery, while the Yuphoria is backed by a 2,230mAh unit.
The Lava Iris X9 and YU Yuphoria, both the smartphones offer impressive specifications at their price range. The Iris X9 is being offered for around Rs 10,500 in the country, which offers a large 5.5-inch display, decent camera specs, and a large battery. The YU Yuphoria’s asking price is Rs 6,999, which suits best for its features which include a compact HD display, 4G LTE connectivity, and CyanogenMod OS based on Android Lollipop.
